travel information

cyclesThe good news is that Ryanair are now flying from lots of regional airports straight to Chania and they are cheaper than the rest. They don't always fly Tuesday to Tuesday, so for example they fly on Saturdays from Leeds/Bradford to Chania. This is great news if you can only take Monday to Friday holidays off work.

OK, so our guest teachers may have holidays running from Tuesday to Tuesday, but many teachers will be happy for you to come for just part of the week. So you can arrive Saturday, join a class on Sunday, and have another teacher from Wednesday. Or why not come for two weeks and spend a few chill-out days before and after your yoga holiday?

Other charter flights to Chania use mainly Manchester and Gatwick: Monarch and Torair and EasyJet now fly from Gatwick to Chania. There are scheduled flights with Aegean Airlines and Olympic via Athens to Chania.

You can also fly to Heraklion – and Jet2 have now entered that market. Be careful, however, flights can look cheaper but you need to factor in the extra cost for taxi transfers, unless you make the transfer from Heraklion by bus.

If you take a flight to Athems you have the option of taking the overnight ferry crossings from Athens (Piraeus) to Souda Bay near Chania.

Transfers

For all holidays we organise taxi transfers even when they are not included in the price. This is to make your journey run smoothly and to benefit by our negotiated price.

If you are coming by bus there are approx hourly bus services you can make from both Heraklion and Chania airports – they are both lengthy journeys, but quite delightful: about 3 hours from Chania and over 5 hours from Heraklion.

Travel arrangements

Our booking agent, Lynne, will be delighted to advise you in making your travel plans, or you can start a web search with some of the links below. Also your high street travel agent may be worth an enquiry.

Local Car & Cycle Hire

A friendly, Kastelli based car hire agency will rent you a car for just a few days or you can choose to pick up your hire car at either airport. We organise this for you and provide directions for you for your journey here.

Cycling is an excellent way to explore the coastal plain and valleys where you will find many easy-going routes to choose from. Mountain bikes are readily available for hire locally.
